When the art of volunteering is introduced in the workplace, this is how a community can forge strong bonds between its citizens.

During an inspiring meeting with Mrs. Liane Joly, Branch Manager of the Royal Bank of Canada in Hawkesbury, we learned how the community involvement of the bank’s employees is “honored” and put into practice on a regular basis. And one of the organizations benefiting from this charity? None other than the Hawkesbury Central Food Bank.

We learned that employees are given opportunities to donate to charities and participate in volunteer work. As part of the «RBC Communities Together Fund», one of whose objectives is to respond to urgent and essential community needs, employees are encouraged to organize volunteer activities in teams.

In 2024, the Royal Bank of Canada in Hawkesbury made a major donation of $7,500 to the HCFB…and that’s not all! In 2025, the food bank received another substantial donation of $6,000.

The presence of RBC employees in the food distribution section has always been appreciated and greatly enjoyed. This volunteer work allows them to learn the “ins and outs” of a food bank… receiving food donations, sorting, stocking shelves, and distributing food.

The ties between charitable organizations, such as the HCFB and the business community are growing stronger and forming beneficial partnerships.

Thank you to all the employees of the Royal Bank of Canada! You share our interest and desire to create a community that brings people together.
