On November 11th, a food drive was launched at Your Independent Grocer supermarket in Hawkesbury. At the checkout, customers were invited to purchase bags of food items for $10, $15, or $20. All bags included items in high demand at food banks. During the campaign, which ended on December 13th, 1126 bags were sold, 950 of which were delivered to the HCFB. We cannot overlook the voluntary and determined help of the staff and colleagues of Mr. Daniel Asselin, the owner. The cashiers were engaging and helpful. And what about the contribution of the customers? Sensational!
This campaign was launched by Your Independent Grocer on a national scale. Our supermarket in Hawkesbury ranked first in Ontario for the number of bags sold. And that’s not all! It ranked 11th nationally. What an achievement!
The value of the bags received by the HCFB represents the staggering sum of $16,827.00! Don’t you think that words beginning with “C” take on their full meaning here?
